Regardless of the involvement of communities, corporations, or government stakeholders, and no matter the technological or innovative advancements, projects will not be sustainable without fundamental shifts in behavior of all the stakeholders and attitudes towards the environment. Both globally and in India, there is a need to unlearn entrenched habits, lifestyles, patterns, trends and adopt new, pro-environment practices. Addressing consumerism is essential in this transformation.
